Generating Viral Blog Post Ideas – The Quick Way

Trying to stand out in today’s blogging world is not easy. Here are the tools I use to generate catchy headlines, sites for keyword research, and ideas on generating topics. Your new problem will be picking the topic out of all your ideas! Sounds great, right? Well, let’s get started. Here’s a guide to creating viral blog post ideas.

How to Generate Blog Post Ideas

If You Ask You Shall Receive– Ask your followers/subscribers what they would like them to help you with. If you receive a lot of questions, answer them! That’s a no-brainer as you already have a readership for the content you will be putting out.  Say everyone has been asking how you take amazing flat-lay photos or how you made that amazing mac and cheese you had for lunch yesterday. Even if the requests are off topic, your audience wants to hear about it. So why not give them what they want?

Put Yourself In Their Shoes – What is the one thing that took you hours to hunt for when you were setting up your blog? For example, it took me a day to figure out how to set up a freebie on WordPress that was linked to my email subscriber list. I couldn’t find one post that gave me the information that I needed. Wouldn’t that be a great topic idea? At the end of the day, we are all the same and go through the same hurdles, so let’s help each other out!

BuzzSumo – This is a gem that is fantastic for searching your niche blog topics to check shares and inspiration on your next blog topic. Example say you are looking for blog post ideas lifestyle? You might be wondering is buzzsumo free? Well, a certain number of searches are free, there is a paid version for more searches. Check it out for new blog post ideas

How to Generate Clickable Blog Headlines

Your headline is the most important part of your blog posts. 8 out of 10 people will only read your headline. Your content in the post is what will keep them coming back or lead them to subscribe to your email list but creating a catchy headline will help get that click. Choose a few (4-6) before you start writing your blog post (below are some great sites to get the ideas going) and see which one feels right once you’re finished writing. The goal is to create curiosity. Keep it relatively short – 7-8 words is typically the sweet spot. As its long enough to have enough to create intrigue and it won’t get cut off in the Google search results. Check out the below tools for help on creating that “can’t resist the click” headline.

Copy Blogger – Copy blogger has a great post called 10 Sure-Fire Headline Formulas That Work. This is actually one of my favorites. They are great attention grabbers as they are very unique blog posts headlines and are fantastic at creating intrigue.

Hubspot – Hubspot’s blog post idea generator fantastic! It’s great for quick blog post ideas and if you subscribe to their emails, they will send you 250 blog titles! 250! Out of the 250, I receive 50 of them are gems. You will probably need to switch around your topics as its kind of like mad libs for blog topics, but I encourage you to check it out. I forgot to mention the best part – it’s FREE! Fantastic tool for blog post ideas for beginners.

Quora and Reddit– A blog post that solves someone’s problem is the best type of blog post! Am I right?  These are great resources to find frequently asked questions and be an expert on your field of expertise. After your blog post is published you can go back and share with the community. They will be grateful for helping them out and generate traffic to your blog. Talk about win-win.

Steal Like an Artist – Check Pinterest for blog posts that interest you and if you feel that you have more to add, create it and add it. Reading other bloggers content can sometimes inspire you to create better content or similar content with a spin.

How to do Keyword Research

If you’ve narrowed down your headline and topic, the next step is to optimize! The two tools below are a great place to take a look when deciding how to phrase your headline and content within your post.

Uber Suggest – Uber Suggest, and no it has nothing to do with Uber ;). I’m a huge Neil Patel fan and I love this little tool that helps you choose keywords for your blog topic. It provides search volume, keyword ideas, and SERP analysis, so you know who you are up against. It’s a great free tool when you’re getting ideas for your blog and using keywords to drive traffic to your blog.

Keywords Everywhere – This is a plug-in that works with Chrome or Firefox. It generated a list of related keywords and other related searches. From here you can narrow down keywords you want to use in your title and content. It’s completely free and easy to install.

Pinterest– If you are using Pinterest as one of your social platforms to drive traffic to your blog, Pinterest if defiantly worth running a search on. Type your search in and the suggestions are great to include in your blog title. This one is completely free and a must search if you are utilizing Pinterest in generating blog traffic.

General Guidelines for Blogging

Sometimes writing can become overwhelming, where do you begin? Outline your headline, intro, your main points, and conclusion. Next go in and fill in each paragraph. Try to keep paragraphs short (5-6 lines) and a fair number of images.

Conclusion

If I had to break it down to a simple formula it would be: Topics in your niche + a catchy headline + keyword research + brief paragraphs + social sharing = 1 million blog posts visits! If only it were that easy! The tools above are a great resource to check out to generate blog post ideas. As everyone says consistency is key, as you never know which post will go viral. Keep at it!

Keep creating, loving and learning my love!
